The film

What is NORDTEK?

A Canadian paint protection film company based in Québec. One film in four finishes, sold to professionals only: distributors country by country and installers across Canada.

Who makes NORDTEK film?

We set what the film is held to, control production against it on partner lines, and answer for the material to our partners. The thresholds are on the technology page.

How thick is it?

KLAR, the clear gloss film, is 7.5 mil nominal. The matte and black films have their own gauge, given with the technical list.

Do scratches disappear?

Light scratches in the topcoat, such as fine marks from washing, close again with warmth: sun on the panel, a rinse with warm water, a heat gun in the bay. Deeper damage through the film does not; that panel is refitted.

Will the clear film turn yellow?

The film is made from aliphatic polyurethane, the class of polyurethane used for clear protection films because it yellows far less than the aromatic kind. Long exposure to strong heat and sun is harder on any clear film, which is why KLAR carries seven years in the places on the hot-climate list. Yellowing is covered for the whole term under the owner warranty terms.

Finishes

What is the difference between the four finishes?

Clear or black decides whether the paint is still what you see. Gloss or matte decides how the light leaves the surface. KLAR clear gloss, DIMMA clear matte, SVART black gloss, NATT black matte.

Can I put matte film on part of the car?

You can, but a matte bonnet next to a gloss wing reads as two finishes. Matte reads best on the whole car or on whole panels such as the roof.

Does black film replace a paint job?

SVART and NATT change the colour of the car to black and protect the paint underneath at the same time. The paint is no longer seen while the film is on.

Warranty

How long is the warranty?

Ten years on KLAR, or seven when, on the installation date, the car is licensed in a place on the hot-climate list, and five years on DIMMA, SVART and NATT, from the installation date, under the owner warranty terms.

Do I need to register it?

No. Your installer registers the installation with photographs, and you receive the electronic certificate by email, normally on the day of fitting. If it has not arrived within 30 days, send us your installation invoice through the contact page and we register it with your installer.

I lost the certificate email.

Ask the installer who fitted the film: they can find the registration by the VIN. Or contact us.

Does the warranty pass to a new owner?

Yes. The warranty follows the car by its VIN: a later owner keeps the rest of the term and needs only the warranty number or the VIN to make a claim.

Installation and care

Can I install it myself?

NORDTEK is fitted by authorised installers only, and the warranty covers film bought from and fitted by them. Find an installer.

When can I wash the car?

When your installer says the film is ready. Small haze or water spots under fresh film clear as it cures.

How should I wash it?

By hand with a pH-neutral shampoo and a soft mitt, keeping a pressure washer nozzle away from the edges. No abrasive polish or solvents on the film; on matte films, no wax or gloss sealant.

Can the film be removed?

Yes, by an installer. Removal guidance comes with the technical list.

For partners

Do you sell to car owners directly?

No. NORDTEK reaches a car only through installers and distributors.

Where are prices?

Pricing is sent with the reply to an application, not published.

How do territories work?

A territory is discussed after an application, never published. Apply as a distributor or as a dealer in Canada.

Can I see the full technical data?

The technical list, with measured values and handling notes, goes to partners under NDA once an application is qualified.
