1. Who gives this warranty
This limited warranty is given by NORDTEK, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Québec, Canada (“NORDTEK”), in every country where NORDTEK film is fitted. Where NORDTEK has a distributor in your country, the distributor receives your claim and arranges the repair on NORDTEK’s behalf; NORDTEK remains the warrantor.
2. Your rights under the law
This warranty is given in addition to the rights the law gives you. It does not limit or replace any mandatory right you have against the installer who sold and fitted the film, against the seller of the car, or against NORDTEK, including the legal warranty of quality under the consumer law of your country, province or state. Those rights are free of charge and do not depend on this warranty.
In the United States, this warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
3. What is covered
Defects of the film material that appear under ordinary road use during the term: yellowing or colour change of the film, cracking of the film or its topcoat, blistering or clouding inside the film, and peeling or lifting across a panel caused by the adhesive rather than by the installation.
4. The term
The term runs from the installation date on your certificate: KLAR 10 years, DIMMA, SVART and NATT 5 years.
KLAR carries 7 years instead of 10 when, on the installation date, the car is licensed (carries its plates) in a place on the hot-climate list. The list is complete and decides; the climate classes it names only explain how it was drawn. Every place not on the list takes 10 years. The term is fixed on the installation date and printed on the certificate; it does not change if the car is later licensed somewhere else, and certificates already issued keep their term if the list changes.
5. Who is covered
The owner of the car named on the certificate, and every later owner of that car for the rest of the term. The warranty follows the car by its VIN: a new owner needs no transfer, only the warranty number or the VIN to make a claim.
6. Conditions
The film was bought from and fitted by an authorised NORDTEK installer. The installer registers the installation with photographs, and you receive the certificate by email, normally on the day of fitting. If it has not arrived within 30 days of the installation, send us your installation invoice through the contact page and we register it with your installer; a missing registration does not by itself end your warranty.
7. What is not covered
Installation faults (edge lift, trapped bubbles, knife marks, overstretched film), which the installer puts right; physical damage such as accidents, cuts and scratches deeper than the topcoat; damage caused by care the film was not made for, such as abrasive polish, solvents, brush car washes or a pressure washer held at the edges; chemical or industrial fallout and stains left on the film; film removed and fitted again, or fitted over paint that was already damaged or not fully cured. Care that did not cause the defect does not affect a claim.
8. What NORDTEK does
If a claim is accepted, the film on each affected panel is removed and replaced with new NORDTEK film of the same finish by an authorised installer, with the film, the removal and the fitting at no charge to you. If that finish is no longer made, the closest NORDTEK finish is used. A credit or refund replaces the repair only if you agree to it. The replacement film carries the rest of the original term.
9. How to make a claim
Open a claim on the claim page with your warranty number or VIN and photographs of the issue, within the term. We may ask your installer, or another authorised installer near you, to inspect the car. We reply by email within 10 business days, and an accepted repair is booked with the installer within 30 days. If you disagree with a decision, reply to that email and the claim is reviewed again by NORDTEK.
10. Personal information
Your installer sends NORDTEK the vehicle details, your contact details and the installation photographs to run this warranty; where NORDTEK has a distributor in your country, the distributor receives them for the same purpose. How they are kept and your rights over them: privacy policy.
11. Law and language
These terms are read together with the mandatory consumer law of the place where you live; where that law gives you more, it applies. The website terms of use govern the website only, not this warranty. These terms exist in English, French and Spanish; for cars licensed in Québec the French version is given first.
